PRAYER

“If you pray, please pray. If you don't, please start. If you can't, please try.”

Here are  five lessons on the topic of Prayer with relevant worksheets, Prayer Diaries and activities to help in the understanding of how we can daily talk to God, Our Father.



1a. Introduction: Cover, programme contents explanation, prayer Bible verses and details of the Award Scheme Prayer award which is a compulsory award, recommended for the Bronze Stage.

1b. Prayer - receiving messages:  investigate different methods of receiving messages. God always listens to  and answers our prayers  with “yes”, “no” or “wait”. God contacts Samuel (1 Samuel 3: 1-18)  Memory Verse: Matthew 21: 22

2. Prayer for Ourselves: Bible focus (Daniel 6: 1-28) Daniel prays to his God even although there are serious consequences, Bible search to find Daniel details, use role play as news reporters to discover the feelings of the main characters, a challenge to live our lives as Christians. Memory Verse: Philippians 4:6

3. Thanking God:  Bible focus (Luke 17: 11-18) Jesus and the ten lepers. Dramatise the story, take part in a True or False quiz, Chain Prayer and  worksheets (at two levels).

4. Prayer for Others: Bible focus (Acts 12: 4-17) Peter escapes from prison, mime occupation charades, participate in a quiz, discussion, prayers and worksheets (at two levels)   Memory Text: James 5: 16

5. The Example of Jesus:  Bible focus (Matthew 6: 5-13 and Luke 11:1-4) The Lord’s Prayer  Get involved in games, quiz, worksheets (at two levels)  ‘Ask Bless Confess’ and ‘Thanks Sorry Please’ prayers are suggested as a format.
